How to Measure a Tablecloth?

  1. Use a tape measure to determine the length and width of your table from edge to edge. For a rectangular table, measure the longest and shortest sides. For round tables, measure the diameter across the tabletop, and for square tables, measure one of the sides.
  2. Determine the drop length or overhang for your tablecloth. For formal settings, a drop length of 12-18 inches or more is commonly used, while casual settings can go for a drop of around 6 to 8 inches.
  3. Add the desired drop length to the length and width of your table. For example, if your table is 60 inches long and 30 inches wide, and you want a 10-inch drop on each side, add 20 inches to both dimensions. The size of your tablecloth should be 80 x 50 so that it drapes gracefully over your table.
