5-step DIY Valentine Felt Envelopes
One of our favorite things about Valentine’s Day is the craftsmanship involved in preparing gifts and treats for the little ones in our lives! So much effort and care is put into them, so it only makes sense that you have a fun place to store them.
We’ve created the perfect craft that is not only a cute and easy way to store Valentine’s Day treasures, but also serves as an adorable decoration for a Valentine’s Day party! These make excellent chair decor that can also hold candy, valentines, and small toys. Use them for kid’s classroom parties, at home, or at community events!

Supplies You’ll Need
• Ruler
• Marker
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Ribbon
• Puffy paint
• Foam heart cut outs
• Felt paper
• Scissors
Start Crafting!
Step 1: Trim
First, trim your felt down to your desired size. We cut ours down down to fit a kid’s chiavari chair, but you can make your envelope as small or big as you like! After trimming, our felt measured 7 inches wide by 11 inches tall.
Step 2: Shape
Once you have the desired size of your felt, fold it three-quarters of the way down. Leave the extra one-fourth of the felt free so that you can fold it over to create the top flap. (The top flap will be the opening for your envelope.) Next, cut the edges off of the top flap to create the classic envelope point.
Step 3: Glue
Glue down the two open sides of your envelope with your hot glue gun. Be careful not to get glue on your fingers – it’ll be hot! Let the glue air dry, or use a blow dryer for faster drying time. Once the edges are secure, glue a foam heart on the tip of the envelope’s point. (Make sure you only add glue to the tip so you can still open and close the bag.)
Step 4: Decorate
Foam hearts, puffy paint accents, ribbon, you name it – add in special details to make each envelope unique! We added dashes along the edges and bottom of our felt valentine envelopes with puffy paint. If you’re creating these at a party, write the name of the person creating the envelope so they don’t get mixed up! If you used puffy paint or more hot glue, let it dry before moving on to the final step.
(Optional) Step 5: Hang
Now that you have your envelope created the last step is to add ribbon to the back so you can hang it. We used pink ribbon, but you can choose any color to fit your party’s theme. To begin, cut two strips that are 28 inches long each. Fold your ribbons in half. Flip your envelope over to the back, and on the top left corner add a generous amount of hot glue. Stick the folded side of your ribbon and press. Repeat on the right side. Let the glue dry. Once the glue is dry your envelope is finished!
