Table Skirt Styling Tips

1. Choose a table skirt style and color that match an event theme. For example, a tutu skirt can complement a playful children’s birthday party.

2. Layer several types of table skirts so you can enhance depth and interest. Consider a polyester skirt as your foundation and a curly willow on top.

3. Color coordination is the key to matching a table skirt with the entire color palette of an occasion. For a fine backdrop, opt for neutral skirt colors. If you want to create a statement, bold colors are perfect.

4. Add table accessories like runners, table centerpieces, and overlays. For a touch of romance, match a chiffon table skirt with a lace table runner.

5. Pick the right size of table skirts for accurate fitting. Our Table Skirts are offered in 14ft, 17ft, or 21ft. Make sure that the edges of a table are fully covered and the skirt gracefully drapes when it touches the ground.

6. For evening occasions, it is best to use under-table lighting to spotlight the skirt’s texture and fabric. You can add a magical impact when you use LED fairy lights or uplights on chiffon or curly willow.

Care Tips for Table Skirt Fabrics

Cleaning

1. Machine wash polyester and burlap on a gentle cycle. Use cold water and mild detergent. Do not use bleach. Hang them dry or tumble dry on low heat only.

2. Chiffon, tutu, and curly willow should be hand-washed in cold water. Use mild detergent only. Do not wring out the fabric.

3. For Gathered Table Skirts, make sure to follow the care instructions on the label. Generally, hand washing or machine washing on a delicate cycle with cold water will do.

Storage

After cleaning the table skirts, make sure that you store them in a cool, dry place far from direct sunlight. This will prevent their colors from fading. Neatly fold each of the skirts and put them in a storage bag or container so that dust will not accumulate.

Ironing and Steaming

1. Set your iron from low to medium on polyester and burlap. Put a thin cloth on top of the skirts to prevent direct contact with heat.

2. Do not iron chiffon and tutu. Opt for a garment steamer to carefully ease out the wrinkles. Make sure to hold the steamer at least a few inches away from the skirt.

3. Remove the wrinkles on curly willow and gathered skirts by using a steamer. Maintain the fabric’s texture by avoiding direct contact with heat.

Stain Removal

Quickly blot out the stains using a clean cloth and mild stain removal. Do not rub the fabric. If stains are stubborn, consult with professional cleaning services, particularly for fabrics like tulle and chiffon.

Damage Prevention

Prevent any incidence of tearing or pulling by keeping away any heavy or sharp objects on the table skits. Ensure that the skirts are handled carefully when you set them up and when you take them down.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 5 types of table skirting?

The five types of table skirting are curly willow, polyester, chiffon, tutu, and burlap. Curly willow provides ruffle cascades for a touch of whimsy. For a durable and neat option, polyester works best. For weddings and elegant events, chiffon is the perfect fabric because it is lightweight and gives sheer elegance. Tutu is perfect for an event that wants some playful touch. Burlap is ideal for an occasion with a rustic theme.

Are skirted tables still in style?

Definitely yes, skirted tables are still in style and they will always be an aesthetic and practical addition to elevate any event. They can easily be customized to fit with either classic or contemporary themes. Table skirts offer versatility and elegance that are perfect for many occasions like weddings or corporate events.

What's the difference between a tablecloth and a table skirt?

A tablecloth is a fabric covering placed on top of tables, draping the top and all sides for complete coverage. On the other hand, a table skirt is attached to the table edge and then hangs down to cover the table sides only.

Tablecloths primarily enhance a table’s appearance and protect it from spills and stains. Meanwhile, table skirts have more of an aesthetic impact and for hiding the legs of tables, and providing under-storage.

Both of these linens can be paired and both of them offer decorative and functional purposes.

How do you attach a table skirt to a table?

Before attaching a skirt to a table, make sure that the tabletop is clean and dry. Use table clips to tightly and gently attach the skirts to the table. Ensure that your skirts stay securely in place throughout an event. For expert tips on attaching a table skirt to a table and on using table clips, you can watch these tutorials.
