Burlap Table Runners

Burlap table runners add natural texture to barn weddings, garden parties, fall events, and farmhouse-style dinners. CV Linens™ offers 100% jute burlap runners in a standard 13" width, a wider 18" width, and a burlap style with white lace trim, all 108" long with serged edges. Pick the width that fits your table, then decide whether you want plain burlap or the softer look of lace.

Shop Burlap Table Runners

  1. Classic Burlap Runner (13" x 108"): This is the standard burlap runner for most guest tables. It's made of 100% jute with a serged edge that helps prevent fraying. On a 30" wide banquet table, it leaves about 8.5" of tablecloth showing on each side, so the base linen still stands out. The 13" x 108" Natural Tan burlap table runner is the most budget-friendly way to add rustic texture to every table.
  2. Burlap Lace Runner (13" x 108"): This runner pairs natural tan jute with white lace in a floral pattern, which softens burlap's rough look. It works well for bridal showers, sweetheart tables, and romantic rustic weddings, especially over a white tablecloth where the lace stands out. The Natural & White burlap lace table runner is made of jute and lace with a serged edge.
  3. Wide Burlap Runner (18" x 108"): The wider runner covers more of the table and gives centerpieces a larger base to sit on. On a 30" wide banquet table, it leaves about 6" of tablecloth showing on each side. The 18" x 108" wide burlap table runner is a good choice for long banquet tables, head tables, and bare wood farm tables.

Choose the Right Size

All three runners are 108" long. Here's how that length works on common tables:

  • 6 ft rectangular table (72" long): The runner hangs about 18" past each end.
  • 8 ft rectangular table (96" long): The runner hangs about 6" past each end.
  • 60" round table: Laid across the center, the runner hangs about 24" over each side.
  • 72" round table: Laid across the center, the runner hangs about 18" over each side.

Choose the 13" width for a narrow accent strip, or the 18" width when you want the runner to cover more of the table or hold larger centerpieces. For tablecloth sizes to go under your runner, check our linen size guide.

What to Know About Jute Burlap

Real jute burlap has a few traits worth planning for before your event:

  • Odor: Jute can have a natural smell from the manufacturing process. Air the runners outside for at least 48 hours, or iron them repeatedly on low heat, before your event.
  • Lint: Natural jute sheds small lint fibers that can transfer to tablecloths and other surfaces. Shake runners out outdoors before setting them on light-colored linens.
  • Texture: Burlap is coarse and has natural variation in the weave, which is part of its rustic look.
  • If odor or lint is a concern, consider the faux burlap table runner. It's made of 100% polyester, doesn't have jute's odor, and is machine washable.

How to Style Burlap Runners

  • Layer over white linens. A white or ivory tablecloth makes burlap and lace stand out and keeps the table looking clean.
  • Use bare wood tables. Burlap looks natural directly on farm tables for a simple, rustic setup.
  • Add metallic or wood accents. Gold or wood-look charger plates warm up the tan color at each place setting.
  • Build the center of the table. A runner gives you a defined strip for centerpieces like lanterns, candles, greenery, or wood slices.
  • Match the chairs. Burlap or lace sashes from our chair linens tie your seating to the tables.

Care, Wrinkles, and Storage

Jute needs gentler care than polyester. Follow the care instructions on each product page:

  • Cleaning: Don't soak or immerse jute burlap in water, because it can shrink and lose its shape. Spot clean with cold water and a mild detergent. Dry cleaning gives the best results.
  • Drying: Don't twist, squeeze, or hang burlap to dry in direct sun.
  • Wrinkles: Iron with medium-high heat and a buffer sheet between the iron and the burlap.
  • Storage: Store runners clean and completely dry.

Buying for Decorators, Rentals, and Venues

Burlap runners are sold individually, so you can stock the 13" style for everyday events and add wide or lace runners for weddings and head tables. Because runners sit on top of a base tablecloth, one set of white or ivory tablecloths can be restyled for rustic events just by adding burlap.

Orders of $99 or more ship free within the contiguous United States, with some exclusions. See shipping and returns for delivery details before your event date. For matching burlap tablecloths, overlays, and sashes, browse our full burlap collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it cheaper to buy burlap table runners than rent them?

For many events, yes. At the time of writing, the 13" x 108" burlap table runner is $3.49 each, so runners for 20 tables cost about $70 before tax and shipping. You keep them after the event, so you can reuse them for future events or resell them. When you compare, ask rental companies whether their quote includes cleaning and delivery fees.

Does burlap smell?

Real jute burlap can have a natural odor from manufacturing. Air the runners outside for at least 48 hours, or iron them repeatedly on low heat, before your event. If you want to skip this step, choose faux burlap, which doesn't have the jute smell.

Will burlap shed on my tablecloth?

Natural jute contains lint fibers that can transfer to other surfaces. Shake the runners out outdoors before use, especially if you're placing them on white or light tablecloths. Faux burlap is an option if you want the look without lint.

Which width should I choose?

The 13" runner works on most guest tables and leaves more of the tablecloth visible. The 18" runner covers more of the table and gives larger centerpieces more room, which works well on long banquet and farm tables.

Can I wash burlap table runners?

Don't machine wash or soak jute burlap, because it can shrink and lose its shape. Spot clean with cold water and mild detergent, and dry clean for best results. Faux burlap runners are machine washable.
